Now designed to meet the new NFPA 1951, Standard on Protective Ensemble for Technical Rescue Operations, 2007 Edition, CONVERTIBLE™ lets you configure your gear and level of protection on the fly and comes in two models. Rescue and Recovery converts to Utility with a removable CROSSTECH™ fabric liner providing performance unmatched by any other waterproof, breathable barrier. In this model, the shell provides protection from flash or wildland fire and sharp and abrasive objects. With the barrier installed, CONVERTIBLE™ adds protection from NFPA common liquids*, blood and body fluids, and the weather.
And coming soon, CBRN converts to Utility with deployable features for added chemical and biological protection.
New Length
CONVERTIBLE™ is a hip-length jacket and is cut longer in the back than the front to fit more like an everyday jacket but with more even more coverage. Elastic in the back hem of both the shell and liner keeps the generous fit close to the body.
Choice of Flame-Resistant Outer Shell Fabrics
Choose from NOMEX® IIIA or Millenia™ Light outer shell fabric treated with Super Shelltite™ durable water repellent finish for weather and stain resistance.
Flame-Resistant CROSSTECH® S/R fabric
CROSSTECH® S/R fabric is an intimate bi-component membrane that is laminated to a flame-resistant NOMEX® IIIA woven fabric. This fabric is highly breathable and liquid penetration resistant to blood, body fluids, common accident scene chemicals*, and water, providing comfort and heat stress relief unmatched by any other liquid barrier.
Taped Seams
All seams and stitching through the CROSSTECH® S/R fabric are sealed with GORE-SEAM® tape on proprietary GORE-SEAM® sealing machines, utilizing the latest technology from W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc.
Removable Free-Hanging Liner
2-layer laminated lining is more flexible and allows for customization of the separate outer shell fabric layer without penetrating the CROSSTECH® barrier.
The barrier liner is secured with snaps under the front facings, with hook and loop fastener under the fleece collar, and with snap tabs to the hem so that the barrier can be removed when conditions change.
AXTION™ Sleeve
Pleats built into the shell and darts in the liner on the front and back of each sleeve provide extra length where you need it for reaching up. This system allows you to raise your arms with complete mobility and with minimal coat rise.
Contoured Sleeves
Ergonomically curved sleeves follow the natural shape of your arm to work with you - not against you. Contoured and graded fro each jacket size so you always get the right fit.
Optional Cuff Reinforcement
Cuffs may be reinforced with an extra layer of your choice of materials, double-stitched for extended wear.
Optional Zip Cuffs with Sleeve Wells
Motorcycle style zippers in the sleeve allows access to pull on and secure gauntlet gloves. Sleeve wells keep water out of your sleeve when you reach up out of your gloves when your arms are down.
Fleece-Lined Collar
NOMEX™ fleece lines the collar creating a cozy, non-irritating and thermally resistant collar.
Free Hanging Throat Tab
Throat tab hangs freely away from your neck and out of the way when not deployed. When deployed, there is no exposed VELCRO™ on either the tab or collar. Tab is scooped out across the top with added coverage across the bottom for precision mask interface, collar adjustment, and protection.
Front Closure / High-Temp Polymer Zippers
Storm flap secured by VELCRO® fastener covers a large, strong and easy-to-zip high-temp polymer zipper. Lighter weight hidden polymer zippers inside secure an optional fleece liner.
Cargo / Handwarmer Pockets
Lower cargo pockets with BDU-style expansion pleats have integral handwarmer pockets lined with NOMEX® fleece.
Optional Fleece Liner
Flame-resistant NOMEX® fleece liner can be worn independently or can be zipped into the CONVERTIBLE™ Jacket as a winter liner.
Optional Reflective Trim / TRIMTRAX™ Thread Protection System
3M SCOTCHLITE™ reflective material in 2" or 3" triple trim design is available in your choice of lime/yellow (silver center) or red/orange (silver center) to provide day/night visibility. Our patented TRIMTRAX™ system of abrasion resistant KEVLAR® cording protects the thread securing our reflective trim from abrasion. Lasts 20 times longer than conventional trim stitching so maintenance costs are lower and your gear is in service more often.
* NFPA defined "common liquids": Battery acid (37% sulfuric), ASTM Ref. Fuel C (unleaded gas surrogate), hydraulic fluid (phosphate-ester), aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF), and swimming pool chlorine solution (65% free CL).
